Focus

I'm working from home today because the floors down the hallway and in my office are being waxed. I am hoping this does not throw me off and that I can have a perfectly productive work day from my living room. Right. Who am I kidding? There is a reason that I stay in the office if I have to work. I am horrible at keeping focused when I am trying to work at home.

I think the difference here is that there is that in my house are my TV/bed/comfy couch/full sized refrigerator while in my office there is not. Generally speaking that means I can stay moderately focused on tasks in my office while not being able to stay focused on any one thing in my apartment for too long. This is not just true about work. If you are talking to me on the phone while I am at home, generally speaking, I'm cleaning. Why? Because while I'm focused on talking I have just enough brain power to clean, but not enough brain power to be distracted by the TV/bed/comfy couch/frig. Hannah called a few times this weekend, and I had a great conversation with my dad. Apartment is spic and span.

I don't know where this tendency comes from. I only know the few ways I've figured out how to harness it. Good at keeping focus I am not.

What I have managed to keep a focus on is this...
- 3500 words on the novel. Only 46,500 to go.
- Did the Eharmony free communication week. Still in debates if the $30 a month is worth it.
- Dad and I talked about cars for a good while this weekend. I have a few more things on my list of ways to prep for the big car buy.

Note to my Future Husband: I have no aversions when it comes to cleaning the house. We can split it up however, except dishes and yard work. I'm really hoping you don't mind being solely responsible for doing those two things. If you get me a dishwasher, really only the one thing. And if we live in an apartment, well, then I guess you just help with whatever I haven't done when I talked to Tina J on the phone.
